Preparing for the 2009 Conference

Post by Denise Rossetti

Conf1Here’s your Conference Committee and fabulous volunteers working their socks off to bring you a superb conference. The story starts quite some months ago, in an amazing room in the new Brisbane City Library, suspended in space over the escalators. We called it the “goldfish bowl”. You can see why…

Once we really got rolling, we shifted operations to Louise’s place. Ah… a bottomless teapot and Louise cuisine!

L – R: Louise Ousby, Co-Registrar/Heroine; Alison Ahearn, Conference Chair/Super Woman; Meredith Webber, Budget Queen; Lisa Barry, Co-Registrar/Heroine; Denise Rossetti, Workshop Wrangler.

And finally, last weekend, came Bag Stuffing Day. An army of enthusiastic volunteers descended on a huge pile of goodies. We sorted and wrapped and ribboned and sticky-taped. In the process, we also had lunch and cakes and scones with jam and cream. No sacrifice is too great for RWA members!

Here we go ‘round the Bag Stuffing Table, the Bag Stuffing Table…

Ladies, I can only imagine how much work has gone into preparing/organising the conference. But I can see with a few heroines, superwoman, a queen and wrangler working to make this event happen – there was never any doubt.

So THANK YOU for all your hard work. I know this weekend is going to be memorable.

ANd an aside… Wow, look at those goodies. This is my first conference and have been so excited about the workshops and meeting everyone at last, that a goodies bag hadn’t crossed my mind. Squeeee! Now something else to anticipate. WooHoo.

Some us know exactly what you went through – the hard work and effort and the tireless hours of preparing, the laughs and the tears. I know it will be a wonderful conference – wish I could be there but look forward to hearing what a wonderful job you all did.

    Hugs
