Cruisin’ with RWA

Hi there! Hope you’re all having a wonderful week. We had a touch of summer here on Monday in the West with a steamy 34 degrees! And speaking of ‘hotting up’ have you voted for your favourite author entries in Harlequin’s So You Think You Can Write Competition? There’s a few names you’re bound to recognise. Voting closes on October 11 and you can vote for one entry per day.

Don’t forget to also enter RWA’s own round of contests. Closing dates are listed below.

Have you got a new release, cover, contract, website or blog to share? Send us the link to cruisin@romanceaustralia.com.

New Releases and Contracts

All suffragette Esme Smith wants is respect. Her beau, American inventor Jed Reeve, may be more enlightened than most men, but lately his need to protect her is at odds with her need for independence. Esme begins to wonder if a modern woman can share her life with a man without losing some of herself.

With his courtship of Esme stalled, the last thing Jed needs is the pressure of saving the Prince of Wales. But when blueprints for a sonic destroyer fall into his hands, he uncovers an anarchist plot that could have deadly consequences.

While investigating the threats, Jed is determined to keep Esme out of harm’s way, despite her protests. But when the terrorists capture Jed and demand a priceless emerald in exchange for his life, it’s Esme who must draw on all her strength to save the day.

  • November Release -  THE DIPLOMAT’S DAUGHTER by Carolyn Wren

A covert operative. A life filled with secrets.

Jared Knight works with an elite group of agents trained to track down the worst criminals humanity has to offer. His career leaves no room for relationships.

On a dangerous assignment in Monaco he is captivated by a woman in a crowded ballroom. Disturbed by the uncharacteristic lapse, he is determined to forget her…

Five years later Jared offers Cecilia Benedict his protection when she becomes the object of an overzealous secret admirer. Unbeknown to Cecilia she is the woman who has haunted Jared’s thoughts. He can stay away no longer now her life is in danger.

Cecilia is intrigued by Jared’s serious manner and deep grey eyes. In the close confines they share she finds herself emotionally and physically drawn to him. An attraction grows…

But danger lurks in the shadows, threatening to destroy their relationship before it can even begin.

Negotiations for a film option on one of my books have been going on for well over a year – and at last the contracts have been signed. I’m so stoked about this. Of course this is only the first step in getting a film made. The people taking the option now have to get funding, write the film script, etc. But still . . . it’s nice to get so far. Sadly, I’m not allowed to tell anyone which book it is. (Sigh.) But it is a film option. And that is good news, right?

  • Janet Woods has been offered a two-book contract from Severn House UK. The first, to be titled MOON CUSSER (or curser or cutter) will have a smuggling theme.
