Blog Bites…Nicole Hurley-Moore

Introducing Nicola Hurley-Moore, author of romantic fiction, paranormal romance and historical romance.

I write: historical romances, mainly the medieval variety. I have always been captivated by the Middle Ages ever since I was a child. I love it all – the good and the bad. Sign me up for a time travelling trip; however let’s not get too carried away as I wouldn’t want to live there on a permanent basis. I have also been trying my hand at the paranormal. I read Grimm’s fairytales when I was little – you know the really dark and twisty ones. I suppose it eventually had to have an effect!

I’m From: Central Victorian Highlands, Australia.

Latest Project : My new novella, ‘Capturing Bliss’ has just been released by Pink Petal Books.  It’s about sisterly devotion and the lengths you will go for the people you love.  In 12th century England, love isn’t part of the marriage equation. But Lady Blissot de Woodville adores her younger sister too much to see her suffer such a fate. Instead, Bliss recklessly switches places with her sister – and marries a total stranger under false pretenses! Fortunately, she soon discovers she shares a rare passion and a genuine love with her new husband, the ardent Lord William Reynard. Yet the happier Bliss becomes, the more her secret weighs heavily on her heart …because the desperate lie could destroy everything she’s come to cherish.

Favourite Author: I can’t narrow that one down. So will you’ll forgive me if I just list some of the authors I think rock? Jane Austen, Nora Roberts, Anya Seaton, Julie Garwood, Johanna Lindsey, Anna Campbell, Kerry Greenwood, Valerie Parv, Stephanie Laurens and Chaucer. There’s a whole heap more but I figured that I should stop.

Three Things People Might Not Know About Me :

  • I use sealing wax on all my letters
  • I prefer to write with a fountain pen
  • I have an obsession for antique jewellery

Plotter or Pantser:  I plot everything. Each story/novella/book has its own notebook filled with the plot, character profiles, notes, what a name means, history, research and pictures of what I think the characters look like. I plot the story, the chapters and down to the different scenes. That doesn’t mean that my characters always do what they’re meant to. Sometimes even though the story is plotted out, it ends up having a mind of its own and takes me off in a different direction.

I also carry numerous notebooks around with me, much to the amusement and / or embarrassment of my children.

Great to see you here and to learn a little more about you. My mum collects antique jewellery as well. I can see how you can get into collections like that. Just lovely.
    See you on the loop.
    Tam 🙂
