Conference Spotlight ~ the bits and bobs update

Welcome to another of our Conference Spotlights from the

Today we have various bits and bobs of information for you.

Staying at the QT for conference?

Download the GC QT Concierge app!

Welcome to the 21st century with ordering done by an app. No need to get your order mucked up over the phone, this handy tool is the way to go. Always ready with an answer, the QT Gold Coast Concierge App is waiting for you…

Silent Auction – payment facilities

There will be no eftpos or credit card facilities available for the Silent Auction, so if you are planning to bid, please be prepared to hand over Mr. C. Ash. That’s cash for the uninitiated.  *grin*

There is an eftpos machine across the road, and in Surfers Paradise a few blocks over.

Beware overweight luggages fees

At conference, you always go home with more than you came with. You know all those goodies in the conference bag, at the bookstore, the book signing, and even the Silent Auction. To avoid overweight luggage, we recommend to grab some post pack envelopes (available in 500gram, 3kg, and 5kg) . I already have mine!

Popular Romance Project – Kickstarter

We recently had Laurie Kahn and Joanne Lockyer as guests from the Popular Romance Project. Check out the blog post here.

As part of that post, Laurie let us know about a great opportunity to become involved with the Project, and that is by becoming a supporter via the Kickstarter funding campaign. If you have a few dollars to spend, why not back this project which aims to explore the fascinating, often contradictory origins and influences of popular romance as told in novels, films, comics, advice books, songs, and internet fan fiction, taking a global perspective—while looking back across time as far as the ancient Greeks.

To support the project, go to the Love Between the Covers Kickstarter page. The minimum pledge is only USD$1.

Evening Events at conference

Awards Dinner

The Awards Dinner will be held in the QT Ballroom (where our conference is located).

Time: 7.15 for 7.30pm

Dress: It’s an Awards Dinner so let’s glam it up. Why not wear that stunning frock that you’ve had in the cupboard and had no place to go? However, you don’t have to go mega-glam. While it’s not casual, nice evening attire is suitable.

Cocktail Party

Get ready to be dazzled by the costumes of the Cocktail Party. With our 1950s Hollywood theme, I’m sure there’ll be some interesting and varied costumes to have a look at. You don’t have to come in fancy dress, but why not add some sparkle to your attire?

The Cocktail Party will be in the Cafe Fixx Lounge area on the Ground Floor.

Time: 7pm to 9pm

Remember with the evening events you need your lanyard to enter! Any guests you have will be listed on the lanyard.

Only coming to evening events? Don’t worry, we’ll also have a list at the door.

And that’s our bits and bobs post done.

Our next spotlight is on the 11th August.

Count down is on – 8 sleeps until A-Day!
