Tell us about yourself in 10 words or less.

Publishing contracts consultant and literary agent, loves copyright, contracts, genre.

What will participants take away from this session? (OR what is the key outcome or take-home message?)

Participants will get a good overview of copyright, how publishing contracts are supposed to work, some of the biggest traps that authors need to avoid, with  a focus on the contracts put forward by many of the digital only romance publishers in the US.

Will there be hands-on exercises or audience participation?

There will be lots of time for questions and authors are welcome to bring along their own horror stories, or even specific questions from their own contracts.

Do you use examples (from your own books, other books, movies etc)?

I use many examples from real publishing contracts that romance authors are facing every day.

Which members will benefit most from this session?

Members who are about to or hope to sign a publishing contract, members who want to know more about the nuts and bolts of the publishing industry, or authors who find themselves in a sticky contractual situation and want help getting out.

What is the best part/aspect of conference for you?

Getting all frocked up and meeting up with fabulous people.

What is your latest/current/upcoming book release and where can members find out more about you?

No books out yet, but members can find more about me at www.alexadsett.com.au.

Finally, we are so delighted you’re visiting us in Western Australia. Is there anything in particular you’re looking forward to seeing or doing while you’re here?

I’m quite keen to visit the famous Margaret River wineries and meet some of the elusive WA publishers.

Thank you, Alex!

Our next conference spotlight will be featured on Tuesday 12th March.
