Keeping up Appearances

Kate Belle will be one of four debut authors presenting at the Wheeler Centre’s May Debut Monday. One of the Wheeler Centre’s first events, Debut Monday’s has become a popular way for people to meet and hear from Australia’s emerging writers.

April 29 – Creative Writing Stage 1 

Through weekly modules and resources, this creative writing course will teach you how to:

  1. Kick-start the creative writing process
  2. Tap into your imagination to let the ideas flow
  3. Draw from everyday experiences and memories
  4. Examine the many different types of creative writing
  5. Build a framework – giving structure to your writing
  6. Create memorable characters and bring dialogue to life
  7. and MUCH more!

April 29 – Creative Writing Stage 2

Do you want to take your creative writing to the next level? This course is ideal if you want to extend your skills or if you want to hone your completed pieces of writing. The course will teach you:

  1. How to find, create or extend your main characters
  2. How to make similar characters distinct on the page – what is your character’s ‘journey’?
  3. structuring your story
  4. Climax and resolution: how these shape the final story – and how to write them
  5. The principles of scene development: dialogue, pacing, the manipulation of time, character
  6. The right process of structural editing, copy-editing and proofreading
  7. and MUCH more.

KSP has a list of regular writing groups, special events and workshops on their website for established and aspiring writers.

Gosnells Writers Circle meets at the Knowledge Centre (Gosnells Library) inside The Agonis, on the first and third Friday of every month from 12 – 3pm.

Members write poetry, short stories, novels, articles, hymns, memoirs, plays…

New members and interested guests are always welcome. Feel free to drop in and meet us.
