Literacy High Tea
For the first time, the RWA2014 Conference will host a High Tea on the Thursday afternoon, and librarians, booksellers and other publishing professionals will be invited. More information on this unique event will be made available in time.
Gala Awards Event

Presented by multi published author, Kate Belle, this workshop will explore the elements that constitute quality erotic writing. Learn how to harness the power of Eros in prose, explore above and below the line communication, avoid cringe-worthy cliches, explore the difference between erotic romance and erotica and discover the beliefs that might be limiting your creative expression.

2014 will see a branch of The Australian Writers Centre opening in Perth. Already there are courses lined up for the taking. Visit the website to enrol or subscribe to their newsletter for information on upcoming courses.
Information is now available to students for 2014 on the Associate Degree in Creative Writing. The University is the education partner of the Byron Bay Writers’ Festival and the Northern Rivers Performing Arts (NORPA), and supports the Bellingen Writers’ Festival.
Indie Authors Down Under are holding a signing event at Surfers Paradise on Saturday 22nd March from 10am to 4pm.
So far we have had over 40 Australian authors commit to attending as well as International Best Selling Author, Abbi Glines. 2014 Winter Rose Contest for Unpublished Authors
- December 1, 2013 — Contest Opens to submissions.
- January 26, 2014 — Deadline for all printed forms, payment and electronic submissions.
- Around May 1, 2014 — Non-Finalist materials will be returned.
- May 10, 2014 — Winners announced at the Yellow Rose RWA May meeting.

Writers Reign have a list of short story competitions on their website
RWA is excited to launch a new contest for published novellas. To be known as The Ella, the romantic novella of the year award will be a reader-judged contest, and the winner will be announced at RWA’s national conference in August.
The Romantic Book of the Year Award, affectionately known as The Ruby, is our premier award and the only one of its kind in Australia. Voted on by Australian readers, this contest is open each year to any Australian or New Zealand romance author who has published a long or short romance novel.
