We love celebrating success. Our members are encouraged to send in their New Release news for publishing in Hearts Talk and the New Releases blog. Don’t miss the deadline! New Releases

Released a book on the January 24. ALPHA’S FLAME is the first book in her Council of Wolves series.

DIFFERENT TIDES is due for release in May 2014.

Set on the south coast of NSW, THE SUMMER THEY NEVER FORGOT  is out in Australia now, and North America and the UK on February 4.

LOSING KATE is to be released on April 1 in print and e-book format from Random House.

In April Secret Cravings Publishing will be releasing a new title by Louise Roberts, the historical romance saga THE SWORD AND THE ROSE.  In June they will also be releasing Louise’s historical romance novella EMBRACE AMIDST ORANGE BLOSSOMS.

New Contracts

Has signed up with Escape Publishing for a YA/New Adult romance. This is the first in a series and a change from her rural romance genre, due out within the next six months.

THE AUTUMN BRIDE made the short list for the American Library Association annual awards along with Graeme Simsion’s THE ROSIE PROJECT, which has gone gangbusters around the world.

We love romance and what better way is there to get your hard work out there to be read and critiqued by romance lovers. The First Kiss

The First Kiss gives you the opportunity to showcase that romantic tension. Enter a 1500-word scene involving your protagonists’ first kiss, plus a half-page set-up.

Opens: 24 January 2014
Closes: Midnight Sydney time, 14 February 2014
Entries arriving before or after these dates will not be accepted

Enter – one scene ONLY depicting the first kiss between your protagonists. Scene must be 1500 words maximum. A 1⁄2 page set up should also be included, which is judged.

Entry fee – $22 per entry (incl GST) for entries within Australia.
$20 per entry for overseas entries
Two entries per person are permitted. Unpublished RWA members only.

Prizes – 1st – $200, 2nd – $100, 3rd – $75

Final Judge – Laura Bradford, Bradford Literary Agency

The Valerie Parv Awardvpa

The Valerie Parv Award offers the winner a year of mentorship with bestselling Australian romance author Valerie Parv. Enter the first 10,000 words of your romance or romantic elements manuscript (40K+) along with a 1,000 word synopsis.

Opens:  18 April 2014

Closes: 2 May 2014, or when contest fills.

Enter: first 10,000 words (max) + 1000 word (max) synopsis of your unpublished romance/romantic elements novel (any length 40K+) by email only.

Maximum TWO entries per person

Open to RWAustralia members and non-members; unpublished writers only

Final judges: Valerie Parv will rank the 6 finalists

Prizes:
1st – 1 year mentorship with Valerie Parv, plus $300
